Economical Kids Playhouse Alternative

I am always on the look out for alternatives to expensive kids playhouses.  I found this article intriguing because if you have access to a metal shed or can find one inexpensively on Craig's List, this article has some great tips to show you how to transform it into a playhouse.  Here's the link: metal playhouse.

I'd love to know your thoughts on this article.  Do you think this is a good, economical alternative idea?

Large Outdoor L.E.D. Butterfly Lights

These innovative butterfly light fixtures were created by Chiara Lampugnani Design.  I don't know how big these butterflies are but they must be atleast 3 - 4 feet high, if not larger.

I love how the artist inspires us with her words of wisdom and why the butterflies were created...

They are a message to the city of Milan to slow down and think about the simple things in life as if through the eyes of a child.

Super Mario Reuseable Wall Stickers

I like to use wall stickers to decorate a kids playhouse.  They are fairly inexpensive and because they can come off the walls easily, you can swap them out as your child grows older and their decorating tastes change.

This link takes you to an example of Super Mario wall stickers.  There are so many different wall stickers out there, it's almost limitless.  Check it out for yourself (the link is not an affiliate link).

The Disappearance of Imaginative Play

The average 3-year-old can pick up an iPhone and expertly scroll through the menu of apps, but how many 7-year-olds can organize a kickball game with the neighborhood kids?

Do you remember hanging out with the neighborhood kids and playing kick the can or capture the flag?  With kids spending  7 hours and 38 minutes a day on average in front of a screen, you may want to read this great article at Omaha.com on getting kids away from electronics and get them involved in imaginative play.

Very Unusual and Abstract Forest Home

This isn't a kids playhouse but the architecture was really cool and I thought it might give people ideas for a kids playhouse.  I love unusual shape of the structure and the openess of the windows to the environment.  Lots of very interesting shapes and elements.  There are more pictures here

Chalkboard Paint In A Kids Playhouse

Are you limited in backyard space but still would love to have a wooden playhouse for your kids?  Joel Hanriques built the playhouse below that is small and cozy yet surprisingly bright and airy with big windows for a lot of natural light.  The best thing about the playhouse is that it has chalkboard paint on one wall so his kids can have hours of drawing fun. Very cool.  Check it out!

World's Most Expensive Kids Playhouse

A Swiss billionaire had an exact replica of his Swiss chalet resort house built for his two children.  It is a two-story playhouse that has heated pine floors, a small kitchen area, four beds for sleep overs, and over 400 decorative light bulbs.  I wonder if he'd consider adopting me?
